Are you tired of scrolling through a huge day of appointments? Or tired of having to open new window and drawers just to get the information you need from your calendar? Air’s new calendar update looks to tackle these all too common annoyances and more.
Today, Athelas is excited to release our new and improved calendar on Athelas Air.
If you’re in a rush, here is what’s new…
Appointment blocks have been redesigned to make appointment statuses, alerting and key appointment information more clear without having to click.
We’ve completely redesigned the “quick-info” pop-over that shows you all the most important information and allows you to make key actions, such as checking in a patient just a single click or two.
The calendar now communicates exactly when each provider is available and whether or not they are working at a different facility.

When it comes to understanding your calendar, what you’re really trying to do is get a good sense of what your day looks like at a glance. And that’s exactly how it should be. The less time you spend deciphering your calendar, the more time you can spend assisting patients along their healthcare journey.
We’ve been working hard on the new Athelas Air calendar, and we’ve improved 3 key areas we believe will make it a much more powerful tool.
Improving how we communicate important appointment information without needing a click
The last thing healthcare providers and staff want to do is hunt for critical information. With our updated calendar, we believe you’ll be able to understand much more about an appointment without even clicking on it. So what’s changed?
We’ve updated how we style different appointment statuses
All appointments have a status, and this status changes depending on a variety of factors, such as whether the patient has confirmed, or whether the appointment has been completed, canceled, rescheduled, etc. Making the appointment status clear is crucial for front desk staff to understand who is or isn’t checked in, who has yet to confirm their appointment, and how to effectively manage a day full of appointments.
Below you can see how we’ve differentiated appointment statuses.

Patient cases can now be seen on the appointment block
A patient case is a crucial piece of information that communicates why a patient is coming in for treatment. This used to be hidden behind a click, but now it is front and center.

Alerting has been updated to be more granular and specific
Appointments often require unique and specific actions in preparation for a patient to be seen. These can depend on a variety of factors, such as what kind of insurance the patient has, whether it’s accepted, whether the patient has outstanding payments, or if specific accommodations need to be made ahead of time. All of these details are important and contribute to a smooth and positive healthcare experience.
Our calendar blocks have updated how we communicate this information so you can quickly and clearly understand what you need to know. All appointment alerting now lives in the bottom right corner of the block and is comprised of specific icons, each representing their own piece of critical information. For even greater clarity, all icons can be hovered over to get see more specific information. If clicked on, you can learn more about what each alert is communicating in our new appointment pop-out.

Quickly access key details and actions for appointments
Having to open new screens or windows can be distracting and tiresome when your day is full of appointments. We’ve made it easier to access the most important information quickly and clearly.
The appointment popover has been updated to feel more organized and interactive. We’ve even included key actions to help you move from point A to B more efficiently.
Clicking on any appointment will open up our new pop-over. In here you’ll see:
Key basic information about the appointment
Patient eligibility details, with the option to dive deeper
Any Appointment notes that have been added
Relevant prior authorization information
Alerts you need to be aware of (these match the alert icons visible on the appointment block).
If one or more of these items are not present or relevant to the appointment, those sections will be hidden, removing unnecessary noise.

Easily see when your staff are available and where they are working
The new calendar updates now have greater clarity on when and where your healthcare providers are available.
Provider availability
Instead of having to guess, the calendar now clearly shows when a provider’s day starts and when their day ends. (This requires providers to set up their availability in Air. This is available in your preferences.)
Providers at different facilities
If a specific provider is available but not at the current facility, the calendar will now show that they are working at a different facility directly in your calendar.
In Summary
This update to the Athelas Air calendar is all about clarity, speed, and removing friction from your day. Whether you’re scheduling patients, checking them in, or planning ahead, our goal to make everything just that much more visible, accessible, and intuitive.
We’re excited to get this new experience into your hands, and we’re just getting started. More improvements are already in the works, because great tools should work as hard as you do.
